Wiltshire Council Arts Project Grant Scheme

Wiltshire Council Arts Service is inviting applications to the Arts Project Grant Scheme for creative projects that benefit the communities of Wiltshire and support the vibrant creative sector. Arts projects can cover a wide range of creative opportunities, including visual arts, crafts, media and digital forms, literature and performing arts. The scheme is open to all voluntary and community organisations although not individuals.

The autumn deadline is Sunday 30th September 2012 for projects that will take place between November 2012 and October 2013. The maximum amount that can be applied for per application is £4,000 and we encourage applications with strong partnership funding and support.

The arts project grant scheme has funded some impressive community arts projects including; ‘When You Go Away’ a project that invited hundreds of school children from military families to make a clay figure of a loved one who was serving overseas. Over 1600 clay figures were exhibited together at the Young Gallery in Salisbury Library. Recent awards have been made to Two Destination Language to deliver ‘FLINT’ a two day interdisciplinary microfestival of contemporary work in Salisbury and Corsham, and to Bodyjack to deliver ‘Nascent’ a project exploring dance creation and sharing in the west of Wiltshire.

Please visit www.wiltshire.gov.uk/artsprojectgrants to download the application form, criteria and guidelines for the grant scheme.  The arts service officers are available to discuss your application ideas, if you would like to talk to an office then please get in touch no later than two weeks before the deadline. You can reach the arts team at arts@wiltshire.gov.uk or call 01249 705531.

Get Your Voice Heard! - Inclusion Innovation Programme Open for Applications

South West Forum is pleased to announce the launch of our Inclusion Innovation Programme. The programme will support creative activities that increase the influence of under-represented community groups. We want people to have more influence on the decisions which affect them and to see equality groups and small organisations getting more involved in voluntary sector forums and networks. Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, we have £20,000 available to support a variety of activities (maximum £2000) which could include training, events, childcare costs, travel expenses, translation, and publicity. The activities must be: *Inclusive – led by or have the strong support of marginalised or under-represented groups. Priority will be given to marginalised and user-led groups. *Transformative and progressive – challenging the status quo and making a real difference to the representation of marginalised groups. *Collaborative – involve or benefit more than one organisation or group, or are delivered through a partnership between organisations. We will be looking closely at ‘value for money’ so you must show how the help we give will create a real improvement. The deadline for applications is 9am on 3rd October 2011. Applications received after this time will not be accepted. For more information please visit our website or download the Application Pack (Word document). If you have any queries or need the information in another format, please contact Isabel Livingstone (Isabel@southwestforum.org.uk / 07792 206741).

Do you have any questions for the Director of Arts Council South West?

Peter Tyas, Wiltshire Council's Head Of Arts has asked me to invite you to suggest questions he could ask Phil Gibby, Director of Arts Council England South West, when he meets with him on the 15th April.

Arts Council England recognise local authorities as one of their most important strategic partners. To make sure that this relationship works effectively there is a regular meeting between local authority lead officers and their Arts Council regional office. This means that on a roughly quarterly basis Wiltshire Council sends a representative down to Exeter to meet with senior officers at the Arts Council. The next meeting is on the 15th of April and if you have any questions that you would like raising within that forum please either place your comment below or e-mail Peter directly peter.tyas@wiltshire.gov.uk

Funding questions

I'm attending a funding surgery with the Charities Information Bureau on the 20th April. If there are any questions I can ask on your behalf please do leave a comment below or email me wiltshireartspromoters@gmail.com

Thanks

Securing Major Donors

I had this information sent through to me that may be of interest. I have been to one of Action Planning's days and it was really useful well presented raining.

Invitation to 'Securing Major Donors' - a practical two-day course on major donor fundraising
29-30 March or 13-14 April, both at Hamilton House, London

We would be delighted to welcome you or a colleague to our two-day workshop on 'Securing Major Donors'. This intensive and practical training programme has already helped over 400 charities to build the in-house capacity to engage in major donor fundraising, a fast growing source of charity income which can help you diversify away from reliance on statutory funding.

The course runs every month and has been enthusiastically received (see participants' comments below). It is limited to 20 places to allow participants to practise their skills and is led by Virginia Fisher, Senior Consultant at Action Planning, who has helped a wide range of third sector organisations successfully to develop major donor fundraising programmes. The training provides:

Day 1

* guidance on how to identify and profile potential major donors amongst your supporters, and secure new names of rich people potentially sympathetic to your cause
* group exercises on how to analyse major donor motivations and plan an effective approach
* advice on how to attract the attention of major donors and prepare your organisation for effective major donor fundraising

Day 2

* extensive training and practice on making an effective ask, with constructive feedback from the trainer and the group
* a briefing on the leading UK philanthropists
* advice on how to sustain major donor relationships and build their emotional and financial support to the organisation
* interactive group work and practice on donor care techniques

Book online and request invoice

Your participation fee of £360 includes all course materials and lunch both days. Should you wish to join us, please enter your details here. You will be able to either request an invoice or book online. Alternatively, you can book by completing the form on the brochure. We can also deliver the training in house, and please let us know if this would be of interest.
