Monitoring and Evaluation on a Shoestring

As funding pressures on the sector grow, there is an even greater need for organisations to demonstrate the difference that they are making, and to learn from their performance.

This practical new guide published by the National Performance Programme and CES is essential reading for organisations who want to develop their monitoring and evaluation without breaking the budget. Offering a simple but systematic approach, the guide is designed to be used by charities with limited budgets who want to improve their effectiveness and demonstrate the difference they make to people’s lives.

With guidance on identifying your outputs and outcomes, identifying what data you need to collect, methods for collecting data, good practice guidance around collecting data, and how to use the data you collect, this guide can help you dicover that monitoring and evaluation doesn't have to be expensive - there is a lot you can do with the resources you already have.

The joy of theatre and dance

Thank you The Arc and the ICIA for programming some fantastic theatre and dance this weekend. I spent Friday night drawn in by the exquisite ability of George Dillon (pictured) to embody many characters within his 90 minute performance of 'The Man Who Was Hamlet'.

Saturday night brought with it the never disapointing Protein Dance this time with LOL a humerous look at the way we engage with 'Social Media!'. http://www.proteindance.co.uk/productions.php

These opinions are my personal and somewhat unlearned ones, but what is important, I think, is that we never forget what it is to be part of an audience!

News release just gone out, please do invite anyone you think might be interested

Fab marketing!

The postman has been today and not just delivering the dreaded brown envelopes but a little box which said 'Happy Valentines day' and see what was inside! Juicy Lips wine gums. love hearts and Love Hearts sherbet dip! Very Clever 02, if only we had the budgets to make such an impression on our customers! I do remember once popping a tea bag in with a direct mail which was quite effective and more affordable! Why not remind your staff/ audiences that you love them this valentines!

I had a meeting with Mission 5 of Automatic Transmission yesterday! Very interesting, we're trying to find innovative art centered ways of getting commissioners to brave using arts professionals to achieve their objectives! will keep you up to date in this!

Website is happening!

In my wisdom I purchased a Mr Site package to build a basic website for WAP as a short term solution, (it was in a sale for £17.99 so seemed like an even better idea) the one we had was not a content management system so it cost us money each time we changed anything. I spent a fair bit of time getting familiar with Mr Site finding some things that should be simple to do rather difficult and time consuming however the first two pages were completed and even uploaded WAP's film to it which felt very clever. Then page three was the members page where I managed to get three members up and running with links to their website alas then other priorities took hold and I haven't managed to finish it.
ACT II:  My knight in shinning armour in the form of my husband has come to my rescue and if beavering away as we speak, getting WAP out their on the world wide web!! He has abandoned Mr Site for a far more user friendly method that he's used before! Watch this space  for the launch of www.wiltshirearts.co.uk!!!!
